REP. MAST ANNOUNCES RE-ELECTION BID
Topeka - Representative Peggy Mast (R-Emporia) announced today she is running for re-election for the Kansas House of Representatives’ 76th District.

It has been my privilege to serve the 76th District," Rep. Mast said. "I love working for the people of my district. It is a great opportunity to become informed about the crucial issues facing our communities and state and then try to make a difference. It is my hope 76th District voters will once again give me the honor of representing them so we can continue to improve our communities and state."

Since joining the Legislature in 1997, Rep. Mast has worked on a number of issues important to the 76th District including balancing the budget and limiting increased spending; identity theft, and health care reform.

The Emporia representative is the Vice-Chair for the House Health and Human Services and the House Social Services Budget Committees and also is a member of the Joint Committee on Legislative Post Audit and the House Energy and Utilities Committee.

Rep. Mast served as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Legislative Post Audit during the 2007 Legislative Session during which time the committee studied a variety of issues including how the state agencies spend their funding and ways to improve state services.

Speaker of the House Melvin Neufeld (R-Ingalls) highlighted the importance of Rep. Mast’s leadership and experience in the legislature.

"Representative Mast’s leadership and experience is invaluable in our chamber. She is an effective representative because of her experience and knowledge of the legislative process," said Speaker Neufeld. "She is a very balanced legislator - making sure we craft the best policy possible while not forgetting about what is important to her district. This is a member that belongs in the Kansas House of Representatives."

The Speaker also commended Mast for her near-perfect attendance to all of her committee meetings and House sessions.

The 76th District includes parts of Coffey, Greenwood, and Lyons Counties and the cities of Burlington, Gridley, Lebo, New Strawn, Waverly, Madison, Admire, Allen, Americus, Bushong, Hartford, Neosho Rapids, Olpe, Reading and part of Emporia.
