Rep. Mast recognized by Kansas Sheriff's Association
On October 27, Representative Peggy Mast became one of only two legislators in recent years to be recognized by the Kansas Sheriff’s Association. She was presented with a plaque that evening that reads:

For Exceptional Dedication to Kansas Law Enforcement
“No Better Friend Have We”

On hand that evening to aid in the presentation was Coffey County Sheriff Randy Rogers who also serves as the President of the Kansas Sheriff’s Association. In recent years, Representative Mast has authored several bills with the encouragement of local law enforcement. This past year, Mast was a strong voice and advocate for tougher safeguards against principal ingredients in meth production. She also saw an identity theft bill passed into law that she had worked on for three years. That bill was suggested by the Emporia Police Department and had support from the KBI as well. It will aid in earlier intervention of prosecution in identity theft as well as better enforcement over identity fraud.

“My respect for the job that these individuals do is impossible to articulate” says Mast. “They constantly place their lives at risk for the safety and welfare of others and their property”. “I would have been much more comfortable giving them the honor”.

Mast is already working on some crime bills that she is hoping to get passed this coming session.
