Rep. Mast Appointed to S.A.F.E. Kansans Task Force
Representative Peggy Mast has been named to the S.A.F.E. Kansans Task Force by Attorney General Phill Kline. The Task Force has the charge to ensure Security and Firm Enforcement for Kansans. The members of the task force will become familiar with the FBE Sex Offender Registry and study such laws as Megan’s Law. They will be informed by the KBI of Kansas Rape Victim Statistics and study ways to track sex offenders by GPS or other security measures.

“My hope, says Mast, is that we can find a way of keeping better track of offenders and have appropriate measures to ensure the safety of our citizens.” The first meeting of the Task Force will take place at a public hearing in Lawrence on November 15. The topic of discussion will be Sentencing and Penalties. “I welcome the input on my constituents as we attempt to work on these issues” states Rep. Mast.
