Speech: Who can measure the value of a veteran?
A small introductory speech that Peggy gave on HR 6033 which was a resolution acknowledging the co-operative work of the veteran's administration and veteran's organizations across the state. Peggy was the sole sponsor of the resolution. It passed unanimously.

Who can measure the value of a veteran? It is an insurmountable question, because we cannot begin to measure the value of the freedom that we take for granted each day. I have the honor of standing here with men who have fought in foreign lands to ensure our freedom and the freedom of others. They have served our country and fought to ensure the freedom of individuals in far away lands.

There are currently 246,359 veterans in Kansas. 1 is a veteran of World War I. 10,000 are veterans of World War II and 4,426 are veterans of the Korean War. We have 18,000 Vietnam Veterans in Kansas and 11,000 veterans of the Persian Gulf War.

It is a privilege to acknowledge in a small way what these veterans mean to us and how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice. With that, I move HR 6033.
